We have some rather exciting news.
For years, guests have travelled to Clarens to eat at NEKED Food. Now, finally, you don’t have to go home afterwards.
This September, we’re opening the doors to our first boutique accommodation offering in Clarens, bringing together so many of the things we love in one place: beautiful food, warm hospitality, mountain air, an enchanting garden and a more conscious way to travel.
And this is only the beginning.
A New Chapter for NEKED Food
When we moved NEKED Food into our beautiful new home in Clarens, we always imagined it becoming more than a restaurant.
We wanted to create a place where people could arrive, slow down and stay awhile. Somewhere you could have breakfast in the garden, spend the day exploring Clarens, return for an incredible plant-based meal, curl up beside the fireplace and then simply wander back to your room.
No driving. No rushing. No sad hotel breakfast the following morning.
Just good food, beautiful surroundings and a proper Clarens escape.
Our first accommodation is now ready.
Meet Our First luxury Boutique Studio
Our first accommodation offering is a beautifully appointed, approximately 40 m² private studio for two, designed to feel less like a hotel room and more like your own luxurious little Clarens hideaway.
At its heart is an exceptionally comfortable queen-size bed dressed in beautiful Egyptian cotton linen because if you’re escaping for a weekend, you should at least sleep better than you do at home.
There’s a fireplace for those famously chilly Clarens evenings and air conditioning for warm summer days, so whatever the mountain weather decides to throw at us, you’ll be perfectly comfortable.
The studio has its own private bathroom and kitchenette, giving you the freedom of self-catering when you want it, although with NEKED Food only a few steps away, cooking for yourself may require considerably more discipline than expected.
And then there’s the view.
Step outside onto your private patio and you’re greeted by a spectacular Clarens mountain outlook. Morning coffee out there is highly recommended. So is doing absolutely nothing.
With secure on-site parking, privacy, beautiful surroundings and our enchanted garden just beyond your door, it’s a wonderfully peaceful base from which to experience Clarens.
And when you wake up?
We’ll take care of breakfast.
Wake Up to Plant-Based Goodness
This is where staying at NEKED becomes rather different.
We’re proudly plant-based, and your stay can include a proper NEKED Food breakfast.
Not the sort of vegan breakfast that consists of removing the bacon, eggs, butter and cheese from a conventional breakfast and proudly presenting you with two mushrooms and a tomato.
We mean breakfast.
Beautiful, generous, flavour-packed food from the same kitchen that has earned NEKED Food recognition among South Africa’s Top 100 Restaurants, along with awards for culinary innovation and plant-based cuisine.
Because kindness should never mean compromising on pleasure.
Stay Where You Eat
Having NEKED Food on the same property changes the entire experience.
Depending on our restaurant opening hours, you can wander across for breakfast or lunch, enjoy dinner on selected evenings, relax in our enchanted garden or simply order something delicious and retreat to your room.
And because we wanted guests to be able to experience NEKED's luxury accomodation in Clarens in different ways, we are offering:

So your stay can be as independent or as deliciously lazy as you want it to be.

We are surrounded by the extraordinary beauty of the Eastern Free State, with its sandstone mountains, enormous skies, crisp mornings and that particular golden afternoon light that makes Clarens so difficult to leave.
Our accommodation gives you a peaceful base from which to explore the village, its galleries, shops, restaurants and surrounding mountains, before returning to the comfort of your own private space.
Spring is an especially beautiful time to visit. The garden comes alive, the days become warmer and Clarens starts shaking off winter.

This studio is the first of our accommodation offerings, with more planned as we continue developing our new home.
NEKED has grown enormously since we began. What started with food has become a restaurant, a garden, experiences and now accommodation.
We want to create a destination where people can spend a night, a weekend or a few glorious days enjoying Clarens without having to compromise between luxury, exceptional food and conscious living.
